Percy "Master P" Miller began his career by distributing his records through a small California Bay Area record label, "No Limit Record Shop", which started out in Richmond. He moved to Richmond to get away from the violence that plagued his city of New Orleans, in particular, the Calliope housing projects where he hustled to survive. Master P would then use a $10,000 settlement check from his grandfather's malpractice suit to fund his record store and lay the foundation for his future label.
